Rains are on their full-fledged parade and we’re either cursing it for ruining our many outing plans or either simply sipping hot coffees in our balcony waiting for the heavy shower to reside. While you’d be doing either of the two, I certainly have a better plan in store for you. Let’s elicit a collective sigh of relief, for here I present to you a list of movies to watch (or re-watch), both old and new, and stay merrily under this house arrest.

THE NOTEBOOK

Rain and romance are synonymous and what could be better than a heart-warming love story, an adaptation of the very famous novel by Nicholas Sparks – The notebook, starring Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams. I’d recommend to sit with a box of tissues.
2. DIRTY DANCING

Oh, this 1987 movie is a perfect watch for monsoons. Baby, who is off to a summer camp with her family discovers her new found interest in dancing and dances throughout the summer. This movie is sure going to make you dance, dance with joy (just like Baby)!
3. BRIDGET JONES’ DIARY

If you’re in need of a laughter filled time, this is where your search ends. Bridget Jones will leave you guffawing with her wit and her diary writing which talks about everything from men to food to weight to sex. I’d recommend to again sit with a box of tissues, this time to wipe the tears out of laughter.
4. BREAKFAST AT TIFFANY’S

Audrey Hepburn and Tiffany’s! Need we ask for more? This light-hearted romantic comedy is innocent and just what a girl would ask for. I recommend sitting with coffee and pastry, just like Holly Golightly! *wink*
5. THE SOUND OF MUSIC

Youthful, lively and musical, The sound of Music is only an add on to the sound of rains. The story plays around a nun and seven children and will make you fall in love with mountains and music.
6. SINGIN’ IN THE RAIN

This 1952 American Musical comedy is a perfect compliment for monsoons. You’ll want to stop cursing the rains and get inspired by the actor and want to sing along ‘What a glorious feeling .. I’m happy again’ in the rain. (This definitely sounds glorious!)
7. BLACK SWAN

A little dark movie in this dark weather can be exciting. Black Swan is a thriller horror film starring Natalie Portman, has mind boggling ballet dancing and equally mind-boggling thrill revolving around the plot. Hold onto your pillows, if you’re watching alone.
8. MINIONS

This animated film is cuteness overloaded! We assure you’d enjoy those 91 minutes of minion-talks and would end up wanting more. And if the movie is not enough, you always have Despicable Me 1 and 2… Start a Minion Marathon!!
9. ROMAN HOLIDAY

I am Audrey Obsessed! This old school romantic comedy is all about a princess who runs away, frustrated with her tight princess-y schedules and goes on a crazy freedom ride. This one is going to make your ribs tickle. And it’s oh-so-delightful!
10. AGE OF ADALINE

Age of Adaline is an altogether a different romantic –fantasy movie. Blake Lively (Adaline) stops aging and how gracefully she leads her life is worth a watch.
11. NOW YOU SEE ME

Magicians and Illusionists – this movie is a visual treat. Its abundant on style and smart with brains. It’s hampered with the right amount of thrill. Keep your eyes wide open, ‘coz you don’t want to be fooled.
12. PERKS OF BEING A WALLFLOWER
A teenage drama which covers all the highs and lows of growing up – highly entertaining, this movie will keep you hooked on to it until the end. Need more? It is all about love and fear and friendship and not to forget EMMA WATSON!
This is my hot-list for monsoon watch. I’d love to know yours too.
xoxo
