What’s one thing that comes to your mind when you hear the name “PRIYANKA CHOPRA” – some would say Mary Kom others would say Daddy’s Little Princess, a few might also say Indian Superstar and the other few might start humming ‘Desi Girl’ and start swaying their bodies. But, if you ask me – I’d say Priyanka Chopra is someone who is a doer and achiever and that too with a confidence like no one else.
I’ve had the same perception of Priyanka Chopra, ever since I started following her on social media and listening to her interviews and I’m glad her book UNFINISHED maintains that impression of her.

Priyanka Chopra published her book Unfinished – a memoir of her life up until today taking us through a purely Bollywood movie-like life of hers. Seriously, with every word I read, all I could imagine is a big Dharma Production movie with a huge star cast moving to and fro from India to the US, wearing nice, chic outfits, and winning it all. Isn’t that the recipe for one such big banner movie in India?
The book lent an air of a personal diary where you talk about every single, big and small thing of life with utmost detail and filled with natural, human feelings. Taking us through her childhood, her family, the society she lived in, the relatives, her wedding with Nick Jonas, her new home in the US, and all her achievements from winning Miss India, then Miss world, signing her first movie, and eventually a lot of movies, signing a Music Album, taking up her first Hollywood project Quantico, becoming the face of prestigious fashion magazines like Elle and the Vogue and starting her own production house in India and not to forget her work with UNICEF and her investment with Bumble India – she’s achieved everything. While the book talks about big-scale achievements, what I liked is her parents’ unwavering support and belief in her and her accepting herself as a typical Indian Brown Girl and also how beautifully she blends the East and the West, the brown and the white cultures – Flawless!
Don’t we all Indians get a little underconfident when it comes to not having a flawless white complexion? Take a cue from our very own Desi Girl.
What lacked in the book as inspiration. While everything looked flowery, which I’m sure wasn’t, I still felt the need for words that the girls around the world could have picked up from her book. There was a lack of depth which any reader might have enjoyed and taken with them after they closed the book. It simply is a star-studded, big banner movie in text format.
I’m glad she named her memoir Unfinished because every young woman still awaits her secret recipe, her words of motivation, and maybe some unique fundas that could stay with us for long.
If you are a fan of high-end lifestyle and Priyanka Chopra, do read her book. But, if you are looking to find some secrets for success and some interesting facts and point of view, her interviews do the charm.
