A quiet evening, a cup of hot chocolate, and a simple, subtly enlightening story that makes your heart glow—the kind of films that linger long after the credits roll. These feel-good movies don’t have dramatic plot twists, actors dancing and singing, or people plotting revenge. Instead, they celebrate small, intimate moments that touch the heart. Watching them, you’ll smile, perhaps shed a tear or two, and feel the deep human connection we all crave.
If you’re looking for something sweet and heartfelt, these five movies will gently stir your emotions and wrap you in a warm embrace of a loving hug.
1. MY OXFORD YEAR
Anna de la Vega is a young, ambitious woman. She has her life carefully planned and all her dreams meticulously mapped out in her journal—one of them being Oxford. She takes a year out for herself to pursue this dream, enrolling in a poetry school. There, she meets Jamie, a charming young British man who turns out to be her teacher. Slowly, a deep connection sparks between them in the most unexpected way, the kind that makes your heart flutter. As their relationship unfolds, an unexpected obstacle tests their budding romance, and the ending will leave your heart full and you reaching for tissues.

2. SALAAM VENKY
Venky is a brave young boy suffering from a rare, untreatable disease called Muscular Dystrophy. His mother is his strongest support and greatest cheerleader. Ever since his childhood, she knew Venky didn’t have much time to live. It’s a reality no mother should have to face, but she stays strong and hopeful. And then one day, the doctors tell her how little time Venky has left. She was determined to fulfill all his dreams and wishes. But his final wish came as a surprise to her, a wish she couldn’t say yes to because saying yes would break her heart a little too soon. Life had other plans. Her struggle to turn that no into a yes, and the weight of the emotions she feels as a mother, will leave you with goosebumps. The mix of grief, loss, and pride is the heart of this movie.

3. NONNAS
Remember the time when you’d feel instantly hungry just by the smell of food being cooked in the kitchen by your grandma? Moreover, remember when she used to pamper you lovingly with food, giving you one extra bite with that glorious smile on her face? It’s a moment most of us have lived with and hold closely to our hearts. Joe Scaravella is no different than us. Growing up in a loving home, he was always smitten by the food she fed him. The day comes when he eventually loses her. The grief is profound, but he chooses to turn that grief into an ode to his grandmother. He quits his steady paycheck job to open a restaurant and appoints four nonnas as chefs, with the idea of keeping the authentic Italian taste alive. The movie highlights the feelings of grief and loss and the struggles to overcome them, all while making you appreciate your own Nonna even more.

4. KAALIDHAR LAAPATA
Think about that one person who is always there for you. They do everything for you without expecting anything, but when it’s time to return the favor you take a step back and raise your hands. Kaalidhar, aka KD, is that person who has always been there for his family. Unfortunately, he is suffering from early stages of memory loss. His family, unable to manage his occasional episodes and the money involved in his treatment, decided to abandon him. He overhears the plan and leaves like any self-respecting man would. The movie revolves around his new journey where he ends up making a friend in a little boy who himself was abandoned by his family. The story of their friendship, how they find home in each other while supporting each others dreams, will leave you feeling a lump in your throat and warmth in your heart

5. THE LIFE LIST
This one is my favorite of all. If you’re a girl who loves making elaborate lists about everything, you’ll love this. Life hits her, and she ends up working for her mother’s company. Her dream of becoming a teacher, along with many other dreams, is put on hold. Eventually, she loses her mother to cancer. She hoped to inherit the company, but her mother had other plans. She hands over the company to her daughter-in-law, and leaves Alex with just a letter. This letter contains a list Alex made as a child and challenges her to complete it within a year to claim her true inheritance. The journey of Alex completing the list helps her start truly living her life once again. This beautiful story is so refreshing, filled with tears, love, family bonds, and will make you hug your mom a little too tight.
