Hey trend-freaks!!!
So , after a long time, my post is dedicated to the INDIAN FASHION that has hit the runway . What’s in vogue for the season , what is inspiring our designers and what styles need to incorporated is all you need to know before going for your next shopping mania, and that is all I am going to speak in this post.
Lakme Fashion Week , WINTER/FESTIVE 2014 ,took place in August end. Believe me , it was an extravagant affair. India is a country full of festivities and colours and how these were portrayed down the ramp is worth the weight in gold!
Here is the wind-up of the amazing Fashion Week :
1. ART-HISTORY

The designers got inspired by various decades and incorporated the art and culture history from those decades. Be the decades be stylish or not, these era-inspired pieces are stylish to the best! From Arti Vijay Gupta’s portrayal of miniature paintings from 16-19th century to Theorem’s Teddy Boys inspiration of the 1960’s, each designer got the history developed just right!
2. BE-THE -BEAUTIFUL-BRIDE

Time for a lot of weddings, and time for the brides-to-be to be really fussy over what will be ‘ THE DRESS’. Fear not pretty brides, ‘coz our designers have taken every step to ensure you have the best wedding outfit. From simple , to traditional to contemporary , every type of bride has a dress to select. Though Vikram Phadnis went way too traditional with this one , Anju Modi did a beautiful twist to the traditional attire. My personal pick would without any thought be Vaishali S’ subtle white wedding outfit.
3. FESTIVE FEVER

India is a land of festivals , and festivities are in the soul of Indians. It’s that time of the year when these festivities are in full swing and the designers have not spared a chance to not let you swoon over these chic pieces. Ridhi Mehra wins the game with her collection Mystical Nuit inspired by the luminescence of the night sky. Her collection in chic yet sober ! Sonaakshi Raaj is yet another designer in the top list who has proved her knack of intelligent fusionwear.
4. GO INDIAN

We live in a country that has produced the most and the best textiles in the world. Unknown and forgotten, the Indian-hearted designers have used the textiles and showed the geniuses in them. Don’t these outfits look Regal! Swati Vijaywargie has played the textiles and the colours just right in her collection ‘Rangraez’ . Akaaro comes up as the king of the jungle with this traditionally mod saree in the season’s collection.
5. NATURE

Nature has been long-loved inspiration for the designers, be it in the form of flora and fauna , or the seasons . And no wonder, we love donning it equally. From Papa Don’t preach’s Winter wonderland collection to Zara Sharjahan’s City of Gardens , the nature-inspiration has let us lusting after it. Payal Singhal and Neha Agarwal have added on to the practically stylish factor in the garments , like really well!!
6. LEARN FROM THE HERITAGE

Talk about heritage and culture and the world has a lot to offer, a lot to explore and a lot to teach ! And it really taught our designers who didn’t hesitate a second in incorporating the heritage in the garments. Where Anita Dongre regally portrays the Mughal era , Debashree Samant showcases the Vietnamese culture in the faddish way! There’s a lot to learn and a lot to wear! I particularly like how Vaishali S managed to turn her collection inspired from Rabari Tribe to ultra glam one!
7. SAVVY SAREES

Chuck those western outfits for these winning saree numbers , ‘coz they are sure to high up our glam quotient! The saree gown queen Sonaakshi Raaj triumphs over all, needless to say , her collection will be a nutritious appetite for fashion conscious girls and women. Designers paired the sarees with t-shirts, sweatshirts, jackets and tops . Result : Experimentally Intresting . Vaishali S again brings out a graceful saree drape that’s tough to understand and equally tough to compete with! Kudos ! Time to dress up in sarees like a rockstar!
8. QUIRK ’em up!!

Here are the days to display the quirky , wacky and your peculiar style, ‘coz that will land you the top place in the vogue-land. Designers are teaching us how to wear colours , a plethora of colours at a time, without looking outrageous! Sougat Paul has taken away my heart with his collection “Blower’s daughter” which s at the same time both fragile and experimental. Tanya Sharma tried to match the lines with the quirky designers , but didn’t manage to put up a competitive show. Rizwan Beyg and Kristy De Cunha too played with colours and prints exceptionally well. Quirk your wardrobe up!
9. EVERYDAY STYLE

Amidst all that jazz , we are a sucker for simplicity and comfort in the end. Thanks , the designers understand the need. Everyday wardrobe is all set to tone up with these simple and savvy numbers. Where River Island and Miss Selfridge are already known for their casual affairs, the other designers namely Ilk , Munkee See Munkee Doo , Varun Bahl and VERB have great outfits to offer. My favourite is the Ragini Ahuja M-Cut Midi, chic and easy at the same time.
10. STRUCTURE JUNCTURE

Unconventional it is. Not meant for regular days, not meant for not-regular days . Just meant for the show! These almost 3-D pieces were awe-inspiring . The structured garments looked flawless and strong. Amit Agarwal oozed androgynous style yet loads of feminity in his designs. POWER TO US!
11. IN THE BATTLE-FIELD

Women are coming out as strong as ever , and these designers beautifully showcased the women power. Inspired from Isavasa , Armaan & Aimaan perfectly showed the feminine rebel. Urvashi Joneja was the shining star among the lot. Her theme Guarded was a perfectly blended idea of strength, women power and feminine glam.
12. JEWEL OVERDOSE

Beyond the clothes , were these statement jewelery to look out for on the ramps of Lakme Fashion Week W/F 2014. Mrinalini Chandra and Suhani Pittie were the show stealers with their amazingly bold , prominent metal pieces. Outhouse did unconventionally overdose of jewelry , yet it looked queen-like. SHEER BEAUTY!!
13. HEAD’S UP

And those head-turners at last!! Gone are the days of subtle head-pieces. Wear it large, show it larger! Wondering where to wear all these. Tricky, indeed! Where Little Shi and Neha Aggarwal had those unimaginably large headgears , Asa Kasingmei and Kristy de Cunha gave us an option to the fascinator hats.
This was the season’s fashion round up. Glamourous, Sassy, Festive , Jazzy and BEAUTIFUL is what I would say the shows were.
What do you trend-freaks think about the shows put up by our country’s designers. I’d give them a 9/10 and standing applause.
Do share what you all think .
See you soon with more posts and trend alerts.
Till then keep trend-ing , keep blah-blah-ing!
